Casting with Marvin Medium
An exciting variety of tiles, plaques and 3-dimensional objects can be easily created by making a casting with Marvin Medium and sand.
First roll out a flat piece of Plasticine approximately 1cm thick. Create the design by pressing tools and objects into the Plasticine. The indentations will become raised areas on the finished piece.
Make a wall around the design with additional Plasticine, ensuring that the wall is firmly attached to the base. Mix Marvin Medium and sand in a container using a spatula or similar tool. Do not use a paintbrush as it is very difficult to clean the sand from the bristles.
Mix to a fairly thick consistency then pour into the Plasticine mould. Push the mixture gently into all of the indentations and smooth across the top surface. Leave in a warm place to dry for several days. The casting is complete when the Plasticine will pull easily away from the Marvin/ sand mixture. The plaque can now be painted.
